The Last Hour

(Published on Mensahe, official publication of Mensa Philippines, January-February 2009 issue, and uploaded in Mensa International's official website)

The day
Is almost over
The 23rd hour
Has arrived
Looking back
What have I done
A little of what I’m supposed to
Forgetting the important
Too much rest, too much laxity

Awake since today began
Yet asleep when the day broke
Accomplishing what happens
I thought were accomplishments
But what
When rust breaks in

Awaken
Preparing for a journey
And arriving unprepared
Not knowing what to expect
New friends: any difference
Dreams and warnings
Feedings and sharings
A laugh, a smile: any difference
Duties, responsibilities
Incidents, events
A light, a warmth: any difference

Doing the duty
Assigned by people
Forgetting
The rejoices
Known but untaught
The forgetter is forgotten

One more day ahead
But what is ahead
Can’t tell
Until you get there
Or maybe you feel it
Now

The last hour
Is now
Is there time
To remember
The one that specials
The day
Is there time
To turn around
Is there time
To find direction
Is there time
Lord, is there time
