Rain Falling on You

Walking in the rain
Without protection
That’s why we're called men
Foolish maybe
But men nonetheless

One thing I noticed
About people
Walking in the rain
They never take notice
Of their surroundings

What’s far ahead
Who’s passing by you
Not even
If it’s a friend
The good thing is
Not even
If it’s a foe

Some things are just blotted out
While others are brought out
By the rain
By the falling rain
Falling on you

Probably things
In the past
Forgotten
At this time
By the present rain
Falling on you

Who’d have time
To think about this past
Important acquaintances
People
And events
And times
And feelings

Who’d have time
When you’re so desperately
Moving
From where you were
From where you are
To where you think
You must be
And getting there
Is more important
Than getting drenched
By the rain
Falling on you

Who’d have time
When you try
To hurry
And rush
So desperately
To avoid
Getting drenched
As less
As possible

Men
Too lazy
To bring along
A God given umbrella
That’s what men are
They don’t carry
Nerdy stuff
Then again
Neither do dogs
Nor swine
Nor beasts

They don’t realize
Such a simple acceptance
Could have saved them
The worry
The trouble

And when you get to shelter
Where you are untouched
By the falling rain
It’s nice to see
The familiar face
The beautiful smile
In this real world
Where not knowing the truth
Can hurt you
